Manual Chain Blocks, sometimes known as Chain Hoists or Block & Tackle, are used for heavy manual lifting applications. They are geared to function with the minimum of effort and have a lifting hook fitted at either end.

Chain hoists are fitted with 2 chains. One chain has a hook at the end and is used for lifting, the other chain (typically smaller in size) is held by the user and pulled to lift or lower the load.

Whilst chain hoists make lifting heavy loads easy, it comes at the expense of speed, these are quite slow to lift
