The Hilti WSR 1400-PE is a powerful heavy duty reciprocating saw suitable for demanding demolition work, wood cutting, and masonry. The integrated Smart Power sensors adjust motor settings to suit the material and pressure applied.
Sometimes known as 'sabre saws' or a 'sawzall', Recip saws are fitted with a strong, flexible blade that cuts through material by moving back and forth, hence the name 'reciprocating'. These tools are effectively a powered alternative to a hacksaw or hand saw. They have larger blades than jigsaws but cut material in a similar way. The cutting blade is exposed on reciprocating saws, making it the best tool for cutting material in tight corners and spaces.
Reciprocating saws are best for situations where speed and ease of cutting is more important than the quality of the cut; the flexible blade makes it difficult to produce a clean, straight, burr-free cut.
Recip saws are a popular tool in the M&E sector, used by plumbers and HVAC contractors to cut pipes in tight spaces.
They are also commonly used to break up plasterboard and timer when tearing down stud walls, or used to cut sections of aluminium partitioning.
